🧠 Pitch
"Welcome for your day of work in the Factory, may this day be your last one.. And allow my creations to destroy you.."
Botanic Nightmare is a little solo survival defense game where you have to explore an abandonned factory, using seeds to create mutant plants and defeat the agressive robots that will chase and attack you.

⏱️ Jam Details
Jam name: CStudio Jam 2024
Theme: "Living Machine"
Duration: 18 hours
Team Size: Solo
🕹️ Gameplay Snapshot
You start in a safe room. As soon as you leave it, you’ll find a seed, a watering can, and a small patch of soil.
Pick up the seed and place it on the soil, then grab the watering can and water it. After a few seconds, it grows into a small plant that you can pick up and throw. It will land a short distance away and sprout into a new plant.
There are different types of seeds, each with a unique use and plant effect once grown. Use them wisely, some open doors, others slow down enemies, and some even attack them.
Your final objective is to use Key Seeds to grow keys, unlock new areas, defeat the robots, and reach the exit of the factory to escape.

🛠️ My Contribution
- Game Design (Defined the game’s objectives, plant mechanics, robot behavior, and win/lose conditions)
- UX/UI (Designed the inventory and player health system)
- Programmation (Implemented planting, watering, and harvesting mechanics, robot AI, doors, item distributors, and spawners)
- Art (Most of the visual assets were created using AI-generated images)
💡 Lesson Learned
I realized how important it is to understand AI tools when generating images that match the game’s style and vision, and that learning this under time pressure isn’t ideal
As with every solo Game Jam I’ve done, it’s always a huge challenge to learn a new genre and build it from scratch in both design and programming
I love the intensity of it, pushing myself to explore new mechanics and make them work in a short time frame is always rewarding
